Swing Shirt
My self-drafted swing shirt is one of my favorite drafts! Usually made in knit fabric with fold over elastic around the neck and armholes, I decided to make it with cotton fabric this time. I chose to add bias binding around the neck and armholes. At first, I was going to use the bias binding like a facing but then I decided it would look nicer as a trim. I also decided to extend that trim to the hem of the shirt as well. Because cotton doesn’t stretch, I had to account for getting the shirt over my head. So, I cut the back piece out with a center seam instead of on the fold. Then I left about five inches open from the top and added a button and elastic closure. This was such a quick and easy make. I love how it turned out and I love the color of this camouflage.
With the leftover pieces of fabric, I made a crossbody bag. All of the lining is in the blue camouflage but the outside is contrasted with a tan fabric so the bag won’t disappear in the shirt.
The fabric is blue camouflage cotton poplin from Minerva!
