Fanny Pack
I love bag making. I always have. I’ve designed a few bag patterns (the V-day clutch and the Round Bag). I love that the fanny pack has made a comeback. I remember shopping for a fanny pack a few years ago. I loved the designs, but the problem I ran into was that the strap didn’t adjust enough to fit my waist. I could wear the pack as a crossbody bag but sometimes you want to wear a fanny pack around the waist. So I decided to make my own pack. I made a few bags for my son and then I found inspiration online for a fanny pack with a chain decoration. I knew immediately that I wanted to recreate the look.
I used the fanny pack pattern from Proper Fit Clothing. They have several bag patterns and accompanying videos on YouTube. They are also reasonably priced patterns with a buy one get two free special.
The Blue Fanny Pack
I used Cork fabric on a roll from Hobby Lobby. I used cotton shirting for the lining. When attaching the straps, I didn’t quite follow the instructions. To the sides, I attached about a two inch piece of webbing with a D-ring. Then I added a chain strap by attaching the chain to one D-ring, feeding it through the other D-ring and then hooking back onto the original D-ring. For the webbing strap, I added a metal adjuster to make the webbing strap adjustable. I also added lobster clasps to the end of the webbing so the webbing strap could be removable. I attached a crystal dangle charm to the zipper for decoration and to use as a zipper pull. I got new metal bag labels from Handcrafts DIY on Etsy. I love how this turned out.
The Brown Fanny Pack
I used Faux leather from Walmart. I did basically the same thing to the brown pack, except I used rose gold accessories.
I posted a couple of pictures of other fanny packs I’ve made.
