S9182 Skirt & Top

I don’t normally favor skirts. Maybe because it’s hard to hide my belly bulge lol (which I noticed in several of these pictures). I also didn’t wear a shaper which I regret after seeing the photos. However, I actually like this skirt and top combo. Usually, when I see Mimi’s patterns, I know I’m not going to look like her in the make, but when I saw this particular pattern, I immediately knew it would work with my body shape. I also love that this was a separate skirt and top that can be worn interchangeably with other pieces. This is a perfect Fall staple.

Pattern Description: Simplicity Misses’ Knit Top and Skirt
Pattern Sizing: 6-24. I cut View C in a size 24 and View A in a size 20.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. There is an accompanying video as well.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked how easy this was to come together as well as the relaxed look. I love working with knit fabrics and this was such a fun pattern. I did have some difficulty with the top collar in getting it just right. I wish I had changed my serger thread to black before sewing the skirt - laziness.
Fabric Used: For the top, I used a goldenrod knit from Hancocks. For the skirt, I used a stretch twill black houndstooth from Hobby Lobby.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Instead of using a lap zipper in the back of the skirt, I used an invisible zipper. That is the only change I made.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I do plan on making another top. I would definitely recommend to others.
