S8615 Overalls

The title of this post should be “top stitching galore”! Lol! I made “the child” (that’s what me and his dad call him even though he’s grown) a pair of overalls. This was a MimiGstyle pattern with an accompanying video by her husband. This made sewing them a little easier. I hope you enjoy the review and photos. CJ and I had fun doing this photo shoot.

Pocket top stitching

Top stitching can be tricky. I made sure to take my time and mark the stitch lines on the outside of the fabric. I love the way these turned out.

Pattern Description: Simplicity Pattern 8615 Men's Vintage Jumpsuit and Overalls

Pattern Sizing: 34-42. I cut size 40 View B
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. There is an accompanying video which was very helpful.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I didn’t particularly like all the top stitching; however, it looked very nice in the end. I liked how happy he looked in them. He even modeled them with a the paisley T-shirt I made him.
Fabric Used: Grey stretch denim from Joann Fabrics. I had to buy some more denim fabric and ended up with two different shades of grey. If you look hard enough, you can see the difference. The pockets and back are two different shades of grey.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I tapered the leg and made them a little shorter per my son’s preference. I also didn’t do the top stitching down the front of the pant leg. I was afraid I might mess it up.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I think so. I would definitely recommend this pattern!
