Refashion

I finally got around to using this gifted Ankara fabric. I started this outfit 2 years ago, so kudos to me for finishing a UFO (unfinished object).

The skirt. I cut off the pants portion of a pair of Ashley Stewart black jeans. I used the circle skirt measurement for the new bottom hem and cut the fabric based on that measurement. I left the bottom hem of the fabric straight for a handkerchief look. I mitered the corners when I stitched the hem. I love the way this turned out.

The top. This was another Simplicity 8656 pattern hack - the banded bottom top. If you haven’t seen any of the S8656 patternhack series and tried the look, you’re missing out. This is the simplest pattern to hack and can be made into sew many different items. This outfit was finished in about 2 hours on a Saturday night for Sunday church service the next morning (minus the prep time of cutting off the jeans and cutting out the pattern pieces). i used royal blue ribbed knitting on the sleeves and the bottom hem of the top. My original choice was a navy blue but I didn’t have enough of it so I had to go with what I had.

These pieces can be worn together or paired with another piece.
