Swing Dress

I think it’s safe to say that I love this pattern! I love how easily it comes together and I love how I am able to mix and match patterns and colors.

Fabric Choice: This time I chose fabric with a denim looking cotton with a geometric pattern in red and blue for the bottom of the dress and the same pattern in different hues of blue for the top of the dress. For the middle of the dress, I chose a blue denim. I used light blue bias binding for the top and navy bias for the hem. The cotton fabric for the top and bottom of the dress is from Joann Fabrics. I went back (wearing the dress) to buy all the other colors of this geometric pattern cotton and was asked if I was going to make another Swing Dress. The answer was Yes! My mom is bought some of this cotton and is planning to make herself a Swing Dress also.

Sewing: Of course since this is my own pattern, so no directions were needed. This dress came together pretty quick - in about 2 1/2 hours from start to finish, including cutting out the pieces.

Problems I ran into: I didn’t run into any problems this time around. I made sure I had enough bias binding for the hem. I love how I used a different color bias binding for the top and bottom. This just added more contrast.

This is a dress to watch! I’ll probably make one in every color!
